    Great but... from Charlesi, 19/11/14
The concert was really good although being the 80th Anniversary Tour I wouldve liked to hear more of the sound from throughout those years but excellent all the same! The drummer was superb and really brought things together, however the crowning glory of the evening went to King King, the support band who really rocked and I have already booked my tickets to see them at Band on the Wall in Manchester on 14 March 2015, they were really amazing and Alan Nimmos solo really was the best and most original I have ever heard

Time the Old Boy hung up his harmonica from GreenInk, 17/11/14
I saw John Mayall in Liverpool about 7 or 8 years ago and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. This time he was performing in front of an audience that filled a half of this small theatre in Southport, the atmosphere was lacking and I am sorry to say it, but so was the musicianship. As a devotee since the Sixties I was disappointed with quality of what was on offer and I really will not bother again. I mention his harmonica, but his playing of that instrument was still pretty good, but his keyboards and guitar work were not really up to scratch any longer. And it cannot be any surprise that his voice is giving out on him. The support band, King King were OK, but struggled in vain to get the audience involved. It is no good when everyone can hear the band talking amongst themselves, complaining that it is quiet. Whose fault is that? Sorry John, but this was not great. For the same sort of price, a week or to earlier, I had seen Robert Cray and Beth Hart and the comparison was very very stark.

    Fantastic! from Tim, 10/11/14
What a great night! King King in support were fabulous, and John Mayall at 80 years old was great. His band were blistering musicians too.
