Event Info

Formed in 1964, the Junco Partners started out playing to North East crowds in Newcastle and Sunderland. They later went on to play alongside the likes of The Who and Rod Stewart and when the band split in 1971 individual members played alongside great artists such as Elkie Brooks and Robert Palmer.

After reforming once again in 1977, they gained wide success, capturing new audiences and attracting the attention of Television and Music producers. Now returned to their R'n'B roots, they continue to receive fantastic support from a growing and enthusiastic audience playing only at a few well selected gigs.

A great night of entertainment with super sounds and skills not seen in todays bands. The venue was excellent and very accesible.

I found myself again! from Korea to the Tyne, 08/01/14
At the outset there was tangible anticipation and a sense of family reunion amongst we old blues and soul lovers, fans of the Juncos from way back in the 60s with all of us - band and fans - still looking good and loving the music. Our anticipation was rewarded by an evening which I never wanted to end - all the concerns of mature life dissipated as soon as the band kicked in and we were transported to those heady dancing days of our youth. The intimate private party atmosphere prevailed throughout the evening with the band enjoying themselves as much as the fans, showing no pretensions and just getting on with giving us a good, rocking, soulful evening.

Music and vocals were superb. Atmosphere was tremendous. Love and happiness were in the air - the bands obvious love of performing together and the fans love of reliving and revisiting our youthful joy.

Having to be away from Newcastle for much of the time and having been frustrated at home visits never seeming to coincide with their gigs, it was truly a joy to be part of this great shared experience - the old me was revealed and as I say, I didnt want the evening to end. Perhaps this is too much a sentimental, very personal review rather than concentrating on the musicianship, but surely a personal response to art of any form is what its all about?

Thank you gentlemen for making me feel so happy and carefree in an otherwise hectic and sometimes troublesome life. Im hoping youll be putting on your jacket and mac and picking up your instruments again during my next visit in the spring.
