Stockton-on-Tees - Stockton Arc
Nerina Pallot Lonely Valentine Club! from Tim W, 18/02/13We went to see Nerina Pallot at Stockton Arc on Saturday 16th February 2013 as part of her Lonely Valentine Club Tour. The support act, Tristan MacKay was new to us - and he played a great set. Very like a young Eric Clapton - sure he has a sound future. Nerina Pallot came on to a warm welcome from an appreciative audiience and played the piano in self-assured manner, playing a mix of her back catalogue and songs from the new EP. Nerinas piano-playing is a delight to watch: she is a real musician. And her performances are always memorable - never routine - every interpretation played from the heart, I suspect. Nerina played the guitar as well and she doesnt get a single note wrong. Nerina is a delight to watch and listen to, her vocal range is incredibly wide. Her lyrics are thoughtful and honest. You will be touched. The new material is fantastic: I particularly like Once - whether winning the lottery or finding your prince/princess charming! Also, it has echoes of The Beatles Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds - imo. Love in an Unmade Bed - superb! Nerina has a great back catalogue and she played stunning versions of Human and Geek Love. The audience participated in Put Your Hands Up and the encore included the beautiful Sofia. We are relatively new fans and have been so pleased to find Nerina Pallots music. I recommend it to anyone: you will not be disappointed. As well as playing some amazing music, Nerina talks to the audience and shares anecdotes and real-life experiecnes which seem to hit the nail on the head for many people about life and relationships. Go and see her live. And if you cant see her live, then go and buy her music! Her website is fab! We waited at the end to get her CD signed. Stockton Arc management were organised and relaxed - no one was rushing us out. Nerina took her time to talk to people: she is genuinely pleased that people come out to see her. Nerina was happy to chat and have photos taken - what a fantastic performer she is - giving so much to her supporters. Thank you so much!
