  • Manchester - Academy

    30/07/11

    Brilliant from Mrs F, 29/08/11
Classic rock. Classic line-up. Fantastic gig. BRILLIANT.

Joe Bonamassa was awesome as usual. Glenn's posing a bit OTT though!!
  • Glasgow - Carling Academy

    29/06/11

    Blown away from Duncer, 13/08/11
As someone who first attended a gig sometime in the late Seventies, (Hawkwind in the Ulster Hall, if you must know) I have seen many things over the years, including most of the big festivals, but I have rarely felt I was witnessing echoes of Zeppelin or Purple in their heyday. In Glasgow I did! Having seen both MSG and BCC at High Voltage in London just six days earlier, I arrived at the Carling Academy in Glasgow expecting more of the same, and that was a wonderful MSG nostalgia trip and a competent BCC performance. However, BCC proceded to blow Mental Mickey off stage, and that is from a long-standing Schenker fan. Glenn Hughes voice was quite superb on the night, while Joe Bonnamassa was no slouch in the tonsorial department either. Together the guys shook the building to its very core with gargantuan riffs and good old-fashioned rock music that had the crowd eating out of their hands. When the intro to Burn began I thought there was every chance the building might. A truly memorable gig that mad a happy man very old.

MSG & BCC What a Night!!!!! from Academy, 05/08/11
Michael Schencker Group, been round for ages, probably a bit rough round the edges. WRONG! My mate & myself stood there during their set gobsmacked, tight, quality, great set list, got a packed O2 really going, hope they do a tour of their own in the near future, well be there. Now the main act, BCC what a way to start 2 biggest tracks, awesome! Brilliant set, 4 ace musicians playing great songs, great variety of styles & to cap it all, DPs BURN to finish it all off, amazing. Guys, remember Glasgow when you go massive, see you next time. • Leeds - O2 Academy

    26/07/11

One Last Soul from Stevey, 02/08/11
I went to this gig with a mate really looking forward to seeing BCC, we got there early to get to the barrier, and having seen JB 3 times, we were excited to see what this powerhouse unit could do live, both albums are fantastic classic rock and if like me you are a child of the 70s they take you back to a great era for rock music. The night started with for me the suprising support of The Micheal Schenker Group, when they were announced as support I thought what a great night this is going to be, and we were not to be disapointed. MSG came onto Into the Arena instrumental and continued through an 8 track list of new MSG songs and of course Scorpions and UFO covers, Schenker was of course the name people relate to in this band but all of the band were brilliant and in Micheal Voss had a great front man who worked the crowd very well. A special guest for the night came on in the shape of Pete Way and played bass through last of the set, who seemed to be intoxicated with a bit more than the music but none the less a Top Start to the night. When it was time for BCC to arrive on stage the atmosphere was electric. The lights went down to a roar and when the first strains of Black Country bellowed out the O2 Academy erupted into a frenzy of rock n roll and everyone knew this was a special group of musicians at the very top of their game. BCC have been promoted as a supergroup and that is exactly what they are, but the really great thing about witnessing it is that there was no one individual, they are most definately a whole, the crowd where sporting JB shirts, Glenn Hughes shirts, Zepplin and Dream Theater shirts classic DP shirts, but everyone soon realised this is Black Country Communion the band, the set moved on to One Last Soul, Crossfire, The Battle for Hadrians Wall, The Song of Yesterday, I Can See Your Spirit, Save Me, the Jason Bonham penned Cold, then for us a suprising addition to the set list JBs own The Ballad of John Henry with the massive riff it bounced the o2 into the stratosphere with Glenn prancing and preening around the stage and singing with great vigure, then moving onto The Outsider followed by a break for JB, GH and JB while Derek Sherinian showed why he is a very much sought after and talanted keyboard player with a monster synth solo, the rest of the band rejoined the stage and the set list moved onto Sista Jane containing a rendition of The Whos Wont Get Fooled Again with JB recognising Pete Townshend with an arm windmill, that closed the show but everyone knew, band included, that wasnt the end and an encore to suit followed with the lead song from BCC 2 The Man in The Middle and a very well recieved cover of DP classic Burn which finally did end a show, that could have gone on for another 2 hours, only for the house curfew of 22.30 to bring a close to what was a memorable showing of the greatest classic Rock anyone could witness, as GH said at the outset, We are a new band called Black Country Communion and we play Rock n Roll and this evening in Leeds they most certainly did just that, and on a personal note to round my night off GH threw me his guitar pick! Stunning show from stunning artists, if you havent seen or heard BCC yet then dont be that One Last Soul sort it out immediately.
  • Glasgow - O2 Academy

    Magic Night! from JulieFM, 01/08/11
Black Country Communion were amazing on Friday night - Sound was great, the academy is a brilliant venue. MSG as support were equally brilliant. This gig was teriffic value for money - Joe Bonamassa, Glen Hughes, Michael Schenker and Pete Way all on the same stage on the same night!
