Event Info

‘I’m supposed to be dead!’ So said Wilko in a recent interview, having been diagnosed in late 2012 with terminal pancreatic cancer. But despite the doctors’ worst predictions he continued to perform and present himself with vigour and a new zest for life. In 2013, Wilko announced that, thanks to a second opinion and subsequent life-saving surgery, he was cancer-free.

The original Dr Feelgood guitarist is known for his incredible distinctive chopping guitar style. Wilko has gone on to find further success recently after teaming up with Roger Daltrey on 2014’s Going Back Home. An album of the year it featured reworkings of songs from Wilko’s Dr Feelgood days such as ‘All Through The City’ and ‘Going Back Home’.

The Wilko Johnson Band was formed with ex-Blockhead Norman Watt-Roy on bass and Dylan Howe on drums, adding up to one of the most exciting r'n'b bands in the world today.
With support from Mollie Marriott

Having supported and backed some of the best rockstars in the industry including Robert Plant, The Faces, Mark Knopfler and Paul Weller, Mollie (daughter of the legendary Small Faces frontman Steve Marriott) is set to take the industry by storm with her debut album Truth Is A Wolf later this year.

    Wonderful from Sue Jones, 02/04/14
I saw Feelgood with Wilko back in the 70s. He was amazing then and is amazing now. The sound was excellent and Wilko moved across the stage with real energy. I feel privileged to have seen him. Sue

Thought Wilko was superb as per usual, but the venue Lawrence Batley Theatre - what a terrible venue for a rock legend. I suppose its nice to watch your 6 year old daughter doing ballet there but apart from that it's a four no's from the panel! Why Wilko didnt go back to Holmfirth is beyond me?

Brilliant - as ever!! from black t, 10/04/12
Congratulations Wilko and to the brilliant Norman W-R and Dylan Howe for another excellent evening.

Please keep going - it was worth battling through the bank holiday traffic and snow. A lot of bands could learn a lot from them that even if you are talented musicians that gelling as a unit raises the standards considerably and makes it more special for the fans.
