Event Info

Liverpool star Derry Mathews faces Richard Abril for the WBA World Lightweight title on Saturday 18th April.

Mathews was due to face Abril on the 6th March show, but the Cuban World Champion was forced to withdraw late last week after being diagnosed with a viral infection following a mosquito bite and left unable to train, with his team asking to reschedule the date.

However, the Merseyside star will still fight on the title packed show alongside fellow Scousers Kevin Satchell, Jazza Dickens, Liam Smith, Tom Stalker, Stephen Lewis plus Lancashire hot-shot Jack Catterall, in a defence of his WBA Continental title.

He will then headline another sensational show on Saturday 18th April when he aims to realise his dream of being crowned world champion in front of his home fans when he takes on the reigning world champion.

    1) Tickets arrived v.quickly 2) No one at Eventim could tell me what time it started or the time it was scheduled to finish! 3) The map on the website for directions was unreadable and therefore useless. Try not just dumping soen a pdf in fuuture - do some checks! overall score 3/5

    Campionship Boxing from Ron, 24/09/13
On arriving and trying to fine the correct entrance for my seat, I had to ask 3 people before I was told I should be downstairs. Then going through security I was frisked and as I had a bottle of water in my pocket, it was snatched out of my pocket and just tossed into a bin, and said no water. Without asking if I needed it, or if I wanted any before I entered the stadium. No respect was shown to me by this man at all. I then had to ask at least another 6 people for direction to my seat before someone did manage to find it. The staff had no idea of the layout of the arena. Also the seat were very uncomfortable to sit in for about 6 hrs if you stayed for all fights. The boxing was very good and I enjoyed it very much.
