Holmfirth - Holmfirth Picturedrome
Excellent night out from Jools, 27/07/13The Beat were fabulous - the support band weren't bad either - we really enjoyed it.
Holmfirth is a favourite venue, always lively & friendly & good for short people as the floor slopes so you can always see! Rankin Roger is in excellent shape, very entertaining.
Save It For Later was a highlight!
London - Clapham Grand
Just Cant Stop the Beat! from Matthew, 06/12/11I loved The Beat back in the 80s and was pleased and surprised to see their set at the wonderful Beautiful Days festival in the summer so was naturally very excited to see that they were playing a full set at the Clapham Grand (which by the way is a brilliant small venue that I hadnt been to before). They did not disappoint. They played all the old hits and some new stuff as well. I went with my wife and a group of friends. We are all over 50 but danced from the first song to the last! The bands front man is now Rankin Roger partnered by his son, Rankin Junior and I'm not sure that there are many other original band members there now. However, the band sounded great and Roger is a charismatic front man talking to the audience, shaking hands etc. One of our number had seen the original line up in the 80s and said that they are actually better now. If you get a chance to see them - take it!
