Have felt the need to write a review after seeing Rush for the first time in 19 years after the Roll The Bones Tour in 1992. Always loved the band and in many ways of the people I attended with they were my band as three had never seen them and one only for the second time: this was my fifth time.

I allowed Spirit Of Radio, Time Stand Still and Presto to sound as bad as they did as this is the usual length of time Rush sound engineers take to stabilise everything - however my disappointment continued for the whole evening mainly due to the terrible mix Neil Peart had all night!! Only on the screens could we see the vast array of percussion and drums Neil skilfully plays with such gusto as we certainly couldnt bloody hear them!! I couldnt put my finger on it until my mate suggested the PA is too small therefore too much is coming through too little - something has to suffer and sadly most of the time this was Neil.

He was right and it wasnt until Neil did Pieces Of Eight and he/we got the full works that he sounded his usual majestic self - indeed the worlds best rock drummer. He did sound better for the remainder of the set after this but not as good as I've certainly witnessed before and for this reason the night left a bad taste!! Several fan forums and radio stations have since discussed that forever Birmingham has had a reputation for destroying technically astute bands normal sound and I am left to question why in these days of modern technology is this allowed to happen time and time again.

As the same mate commented we saw bands in tuppeny hapenny venues 25 years ago which most of the time sounded like the album depending on the genre and paid £3 - £5 for the pleasure - most of these with a very uncomplicated mixing desk and a few choice amps for each instrument. Today we've travelled 300 miles and paid £63 to the so called mecca to come away feeling like this ...... slightly cheated!! It was only for the showmanship and the history of the back catalogue that guarantees if they come again so will we - only at a different venue!! Four stars show - two stars sound. Or was it just me?!!

We saw Rush at LG Arena last night and thought they were worthy of their iconic prog status! Highlight was the band playing the brilliant new songs BU2B and Caravan from the new forthcoming album as well as all the old favourites. Low point Geddy's voice on 2112. Brilliant light show and fantasy backgrounds as well as fireworks and pyrotechnics. Still got it fellas even though we saw you in 1977 when you all had more hair. Rockin!!!
