Venue information

The PAVILION THEATRE and BALLROOM is Bournemouth's traditional venue for year round entertainment . Built in the 1920s, it retains its splendour and elegant styling and is Bournemouth's regular home for West End stage shows, Opera, Ballet, Pantomime and Comedy as well as for corporate presentations and dinner dances, product launches and small conferences.

In particular the Ballroom enables you to hold gala dinners, fashion shows or other activities to complement a conference or exhibition in the BIC.

Refurbished in 2007,the Pavilion Theatre holds a seated audience of 1012 in fixed seats on a raked floor, with a further 446 in the circle. The Ballroom provides an exquisite backdrop for banquets, receptions, social functions and even small fayres and exhibitions.

Parking

Parking at the BIC and Pavilion

GENERAL INFORMATION

As in most large towns, finding somewhere to park can be difficult. This is especially the case for daytime events (matinees, conferences etc) during the Summer Season and Christmas time when the car parks are at their busiest.

The car parks at the BIC (650 spaces) and Pavilion (185 spaces) are both public Pay and Display and are not reserved exclusively for patrons. There are many other car parks within walking distance.

The BIC car park has achieved the "Park Mark" Safer Parking Award.

The height restriction of the BIC car park is 6' 6" or 2 metres. This is indicated on a suspended height barrier at the entrance to the car park. Arriving late for an event can result in having to wait until the interval before being admitted. We strongly recommend that you allow up to an hour before the event commencement time to find a parking space to avoid congestion.

Download our Leaflet (1.65MB) "Parking in Bournemouth for Town Centre & BIC" this contains information about parking for events at the BIC & Pavilion, lists alternative car parks and their distances from the BIC for times when the BIC & Pavilion car parks are full and directions to coach parking facilities.

Position for wheelchairs are located on the flat floor area of the theatre in Row G. Access is not available into the Circle.

Toilet Facilities

There is a modern facility, accessible from the Foyer. There is also a similar facility located on the the Mezzanine level, the level below the Ballroom. This toilet is accessible via the lift and located near to the Lucullus Room.

Car Parking

There are eight wide parking bays for disabled drivers. Much of the car park is relatively flat and there are no steps to negotiate.

Amplification for Customers with Hearing Impairment

The Pavilion Theatre and Ballroom are fitted with the Sennheiser Infrared Amplification System. The system receives amplified signals from staged events and transmits them via infrared beams. Unlike the more traditional loop systems, users require a receiver which can be either worn around the neck and used in conjunction with their own hearing aid (in the T position) or headsets worn directly in ear if they do not have a hearing aid, or their hearing aid does not have a T position.

This system is far superior in that it works in all areas of the hall and is far less likely to produce interference for sound system. However, please note that it is not the same as a traditional "Loop System", so just switching a hearing aid to the "T" position without also using a receiver will not work.

Receivers and headsets are available from the main reception desk in the foyer. We do not ask for a deposit for the use of the equipment but you will be asked to leave your name and address. This information is destroyed when the equipment is returned.

Our staff will be happy to explain how the receivers work.

Guide Dogs & Assistance Dogs

Guide dogs and Assistance Dogs are permitted into all areas of the Pavilion. They are to be kept on a lead at all times and under control. Water is available on request.
