The best stand-up show - ever! from Simon Pophale, 04/10/13
I took my girlfriend to see Adam Hills live. We are both huge fans of The Last Leg and were fortunate enough to see Josh Widdecombe live in Edinburgh this year.
There appeared to be a slight mishap with the advertising of the start time as it was supposed to be 7.30, but was advertised at 8.30. We turned up at the original time and at 7.45, Adam himself came out to apologise for the delay - which was good of him, a lot of comics would not have done this.
Adding to this, at 8.00 he had kindly asked Josh Widdecombe to help bridge the time gap and we were treated to a bonus 20 minutes extra stand up. This was fantastic and just goes to show how much these guys value thier audience. Adding to this, Alex Brooker (the third part of the Last Leg) was in the crowd and with some hilarious back and forth between him and Adam, led to him being mobbed at the interval. He took it all in good grace, such a nice chap!
The show itself was great. Adam works the crowd just like he is the archetypal Aussie running a pub back home - he knew a load of people in the crowd and constantly referred to them throughout. Add to this, topical and satirical one-liners - led to 90 minutes of outstanding entertainment which left you feeling that for the ticket, we got an absolute bargain.
In addition, this was the recording for the DVD - so for anyone who missed this show - go out and buy it - as it is possibly the best 90 minutes of comedy, by anyone, this year.
Would I see Adam Hills again? You betcha! He was brilliant and thanks for all the bonuses on the night!
