Billy Elliot the Musical is based on the 2000 film of the same name, with music by Sir Elton John. It centres around a young boy who, unlike other boys his age, prefers ballet dancing to the traditional boxing. His story is balanced against a counter plot of family and community upset caused by the UK Miners’ Strike in 1984. The musical premiered in the West End in 2005, and won four Laurence Olivier Awards, including Best New Musical. The production is still going strong and has led to a Broadway version which won 10 Tony Awards and 10 Drama Desk Awards.

Amazing amazing show from Meena, 29/06/10
I have seen Billy Elliot a few times and it feels like a different show each time I go! So so funny and a spectacular show with an amazingly talented cast. (if you dont mind swearing) this is a must see show!
