Fantastic show - shame about the au... from Long term BJ fan, 11/11/13
The 5 *s are for the performance alone, please read on! I couldnt believe I was getting the opportunity to see my all time favourite Billy Joel in a reasonably sized venue, not a ridiculous arena, with usually good sight lines and sound systems. Billy was on excellent form, singing some of the lesser known album tracks only true fans would know as well as the usual crowd pleasers. The concert tickets were the most expensive my friend & I had ever bought but considered it worthwhile to see Billy Joel, particularly in a smaller than usual venue, plus were all getting older and who knows when/if the opportunity may arise again. Billy Joel always gives himself fully to his shows, the singing; lighting; band and back graphics and videos were excellent. However, the concert was marred by my friend & I unfortunately sitting in the midst of individuals who were either chattering all the way through; constantly up & down for pints and subsequently a pee, and directly in front of my friend, a prat who insisted on holding his phone aloft to film/photo for the majority of the set thus eliminating much of my friends view. Why do people these days have such disrespect for performers that, even when an expensive ticket has been purchased, they cannot just sit & enjoy the experience without continuously drinking; talking, filming etc. I had praised the venue to my friend but she was so upset by the experience that she doesnt consider it worth the expense of travelling many miles & many hours to not be able to see/hear/enjoy the artist for which an expensive ticket has been purchased.
