  • Wolverhampton - Civic Hall

    29/12/10

first gig at wolverhampton civic ha... from Gypsy Geoff, 07/01/11
Ive been a regular attender of gigs at the civic for 33yrs now and have seen many a great band perform - probably runs in to the hundreds -and i can honestly say i have seen none better than BCC. The album was an instant winner with me with its earthy rock roots ,but, as with many great albums, it truly came to life when played live and took on a new dimension.OUtstanding memories will be the vocal performance of Glenn Hughes whose frontman ability shows no signs of fading; The virtuoso keyboard and guitar performances and the gratifying spectacle of Jason Bonham stepping out from his fathers shadow and proving his own personal mastery of the skins.Heshould be proud to be part of something with a dinamism and credibility that many would agree matches the achievments of his dad. The cover versions (No quarter and Burn ) were inspired and both were the best i have heard.Glenn Hughes made an effortless connection with an enthusiastic audience ,proving sincerity in words and actions go a long way to a great performance.I also have to say that the sound quality was outstanding - ive often heard musicians and more often vocalists mixed out of a great performance and particularly at this venue.Heres a band that have the potential to fill the gap left in my heart by the demise of Led Zeppelin so roll on the next album and the next chance i get to see the masters at work!

One of the Best Gigs of my Life!! from Timbolala, 05/01/11
The hair on the back of my neck had a workout and I nearly cried at the quality of musicianship, choice of notes, set-list and general feel of this special evening. BCC are a band that deserve to and will achieve great things.

Awesome London debut from Stevie G, 05/01/11
From the electric opening of Black Country to the closer, Deep Purple cover Burn the band were stunning. All too often the label supergroup is thrown around like confetti, for BCC it is an understatement! Each member of the band looked really comfortable, playing a full part in making this look and feel like a real group rather than just talented individuals. The band played nearly all of the tracks from their excellent debut album along with covers of Led Zep, Trapeze, Deep Purple and Joe Bonamassas fantastic Ballad of John Henry. The sold out audience reacting enthusiastically to every number. Glenn Hughes informed the audience that they were back in the studio in January to record BCC 2 before heading out for more shows in the summer of 2011. If you get the chance to see this band take it!

What a Fantastic Night !! from Chris Green, 05/01/11
Oh yes - their first ever proper concert - and what a great night it was. Never seen Glenn Hughes live before - and hes a good front man, in a bit of a camp old queen sort of way. Joe Bonamassa is just sensational - no other words to describe him. Jason Bonham is the son of his father, and has not really found his own style yet. Not sure about Derek S on the keyboards - he looks the part, but a lot of his work was lost in the mix somehow. In fact, the sound overall was a little muffled. However, this was a great performance from a band who looked really pleased to be together in front of a receptive crowd. They got a great reception, and rewarded everyone with a great set. They promised to be back in the summer - looking forward to that.

    Jaw-dropping from Markie, 05/01/11
Retro Blues Rock with musicianship at its best , wailing vocals, thunderous drumming, a stunning base line and blistering guitar solos that make up a two-hour set crammed with one virtuoso performance after another. No wonder they received a rapturous reception.
