AWESOME - Plain and Simply from Girltaristhan, 15/12/10
Years and years ago I saw The Lion King cast on The Royal Variety Performance or something similar and knew that I wanted to go and see it, somehow it always got pushed further down the list of things to do. We decided it was about time we went and saw it and so we did. I loved it. My Husband used to do technical theatre so he loved it due to the animatronics and the stage movements - lots of hydraulics! We loved how everyone stayed in character even though they had a puppet or something similar. The songs are from the Disney film and there are a few bits that have been changed but other than that it is essentially the same. Pumbaa and Timon were my favourite for sure! Zazu was pretty cool as well - especially when he ran into the curtain and made some comment about Not that again! Only issue was a school group who were sat in the same row as us - they were late and then a bunch of the lads left the theatre and came back in again during the first half. Thankfully they sat down and stopped misbehaving for the rest of the performance but it did mean we missed some of the performance.
