Dreadzone were signed to Alan McGee's Creation records label in 1993. The following year the band switched to Virgin Records with the release of their critically acclaimed record, Second Light. This was to be the year that Dreadzone became a festival hit, with Glastonbury ticketholders enjoying a stunning opening to the festival by Dreadzone on the Pyramid Stage. It was around this time that the legendary John Peel pledged his support to Dreadzone. The single, Little Britain, from their, Second Light, album provided Dreadzone with their only UK top 20 entry and fuelled the demand for Dreadzone tickets when live dates were announced.

The band's musical influences are varied and extensive, including Prince, The Orb, Leftfield, Brian Eno, Jimmy Page, De La Soul, Prodigy, Nat King Cole, Bob Marley and Miles Davis. Their music is often described as a hybrid of folk, trance, rock, techno, dub and reggae, however their roots are firmly established in sound clash and drum and bass. Their reputation as an electric live band, with Dreadzone tickets regularly selling out rapidly, has resulted in the release of two live albums.

The band toured heavily in 2009, proving that the demand for Dreadzone tickets remains a constant in this band's career. They are back in 2010 with their new release; The Eye on the Horizon album is the culmination of the band's 17-year history and experience. Ten new tracks have been received warmly by critics and fans alike. The band have progressed to songwriting with vocals set against their ever-present backdrop of dub beats and recognisable samples.
