Event Info

The Harlem Globetrotters, the world-renowned basketball troupe made up of some of the best athletes, will celebrate their 90th anniversary world tour in 2016.

The star-studded line up features Big Easy Lofton, Ant Atkinson, Hi-Lite Bruton, Thunder Law, Bull Bullard and Cheese Chisholm – plus female stars TNT Maddox and Sweet J Ekworomadu, in their one-of-a-kind show.

Created by Abe Saperstein in 1926, a year later the team was officially renamed to the Harlem New York Globetrotters, playing their debut game in Hinckley, Illinois for 300 fans, which would, of course, would expand to 1000s of fans decades later!

Throughout the following years, the Harlem Globetrotters toured the USA, becoming more and more popular for their skills, tricks and entertaining routines, bringing in some of the greatest and most unique basketball players.

Of these players, the most legendary include Bobby Joe Mason, “Big” Frank Washington, “Wee” Willie Gardner, Connie “The Hawk” Hawkins, Fred “Curly” Neal, Marques Haynes and Boid Buie, who, with one arm averaged an astonishing 18 points per game!

The Harlem Globetrotters have also enjoyed Hollywood success, releasing a self-titled feature film in 1951which revolved around a young Billy Townsend (played by Billy Brown) who drops out of school to join the basketball group as well as 1954’s Go Man Go.

The Harlem Globetrooters have since enjoyed their own Hanna-Barbera Saturday morning cartoon, a live-action variety show, as well as guest appearances on Futurama, Adam Sandler’s 2000 comedy ‘Little Nicky’, ‘The New Scooby Doo Movies’ and, of course, Sesame Street, to name but a few.

They’ve also set Guinness World Records with Michael “Wild Thing” Wilson completing a 12’ hoop dunk in Indianapolis in 2000!

The Harlem Globetrotters have performed all around the world, with audiences in over 100 countries on six continents experiencing their unique and unrivalled talents, comedy and totally enthralling games.

Brilliant entertaining 2 hours show. Lots of different things going on. Bit disappointed with the ending, finished very quickly and was a bit of an anti-climax.
