James Taylorstars, from 4 Fan reports

Memory Lane revisited from Ali, 06/10/14I loved James Taylors songs back in the 1070s, but they meant even more to me as an older adult when I found out that like me he has battled with mental health issues. I played his songs a lot as my three daughters (now in their 20s) grew up, and they all love him too, so they were very happy to come with me to see him in concert. He did not disappoint - he is a lovely man, full of warmth and good humour and still in great voice. We enjoyed all the old songs and a few newer ones too. A great night.

Steamrollered by James Taylor from Lifelong Dylan Fan, 06/10/14James Taylor is one of the most memorable voices of the great American singer-songwriter era. Time may have changed his appearance from the beautiful youth we remember with such affection but the voice and the personality are undimmed. Perfectly balanced sound provided an unforgettable showcase for his immense catalogue of glorious songs. From the gentle yearning of Carolina in my Mind to the rumbustious jollity of Steamroller we were transported back to the heady days around 1970. Taylor is a delight. His performance was witty, endearing and palpably sincere. The lady from the audience who presented him with flowers was, in a sense, sending him a message from all of us. The career defining Fire and Rain was delivered to a sort of hushed reverence and, delivered by a man in his 60s, seemed to carry even greater depth and resonance than the youthful version. The story behind the writing of Sweet Baby James was fun and the delivery was perfect. The band was spectacularly good. Gadd was brilliant on drums and Landau has few equals on guitar. Support singers and violinist were great. We left feeling affection and admiration for the great man and sang all the way home. This was a special event from a very special man. Come back as soon as you like James. Plenty of people will be there to welcome you.

A bit like a family reunion. from Steve Lee, 06/10/14There is always a happy atmosphere at a James Taylor concert. I was wary of the size of the arena, spoiling the intimate feel you usually get with an evening with JT but alas it still proved to be a pleasant evening. The band sounded tight, James vocals were good for an artiste of his age and the set provided a good choice of his back catalogue. The concert was over 2 hours long and we didnt have to endure a support act. Its like meeting up with an old friend and taking off where you left things. Roll on till the next time.
