Venue InformationThe Metro Radio Arena Newcastle, officially ranked 7th as one of the world’s busiest venues by Pollstar magazine, is the largest concert and exhibition venue in the North East of England and is owned and operated by SMG.
The 11,000+ seater purpose built venue was the brainchild of former Animals stars, the late Chas Chandler and his partner in Park Arena Nigel Stanger. It opened in November 1995 with basketball, and the first concert, David Bowie, was on Thursday 7th December.
Since its opening, the Metro Radio Arena quickly established itself as a superb venue and major North East landmark, alongside the Tyne Bridge, Angel of the North and Hadrian's Wall. Avenged Sevenfold (13/01/17) - Fantastic event
Went to radio arena to see avenged Sevenfold, was absolutely gutted when I found that my view of the stage was totally blocked out by cameras and lighting, however customer services were brilliant and moved me with no hassle thankyou for a awesome night, and being so understanding x
The venue was ideal for this concert. We were standing and the atmosphere on the floor was electric. The parking was good but a little pricey at the arena. The stage set up and the acoustics was exceptional. Nice one!
Queen & Adam Lambert (01/02/15) - Best concert yet
Ive been to a few concerts over the years and this is the best one yet! Unfortunately I was too young to have been able to see Freddie Mercury but these guys still made him a large factor in the show
Brilliant atmosphere drink rather expensive plenty of toilets only problem was at the centre of the stage was a big black Im thinking it was a camera which blocked our view of the screen
Queen & Adam Lambert (01/02/15) - Amazing
Absolutely fabulous Adam lambert was amazing would defiantly go back, only drawback was a drunk woman was up and down all night it would have been quicker for her to turn left but she always turned right and the whole row had to move for her
