great gig - poor venue from cellulord, 31/03/11
Peter Gabriel was sublime, but my enjoyment of the event was reduced by the venue ... When booking the tickets it would have helped if the seating plan had made it clear that the seats were on a balcony and not a rake.
This would not have been such a problem were it not for the venue staffs policy of letting people in late and guiding them to their seats - while the artist is performing. There was no attempt to even wait for breaks between songs (which were numerous).
My view of the stage was constantly being interrupted by people dithering about looking for their seats, taking their coats off, etc. I have sympathy with people who turn up late - but for a sitting-down gig like this, it is simply not appropriate to be letting people in to wander around in the dark time and time and time again while the performer is singing!
This happened through the ENTIRE FIRST HALF of the gig. There wasnt a single number where my view was not obstructed by people arriving late. This was not a problem for the second half of the gig - which was spectacular.
