Blondie are a new wave punk-pop group who are best known for their success in the 70s and 80s. The band formed in 1975 and disbanded in 1982 after a string of huge hits and bestselling albums throughout the 70s and 80s. The band enjoyed both critical and commercial success during the peak of their career, managing to cross over and appeal to both punk and pop lovers, making fans of all backgrounds and tastes buy Blondie tickets. The band formed in 1975 in New York. During the early stages of their career, Blondie played in downtown New York clubs, gaining a huge following and a big fan base who would buy Blondie tickets at every opportunity. It was not long before the group released their self-titled debut album. They would soon become pioneers of the new-wave punk movement.
Blondie enjoyed plenty of mainstream success during the peak of their career. Their third album, Parallel Lines, was the band’s big breakthrough album, featuring some of their most well-known hits such as Heart of Glass, Hanging on the Telephone, and One Way or Another. Parallel Lines reached number one in the UK and spawned five hit singles. Blondie were known for changing musical genres between each album. Through the band’s career they mixed styles and elements of rap, reggae, pop and punk. In the early 80s Blondie released their fifth album, Autoamerican. This record was to contain one of their most enduring songs, Atomic. This was followed by their last album of the era, their 1982 release, The Hunter.
Despite the success of The Hunter, Blondie decided to split up. Lead singer Debbie Harry went on to enjoy a solo career and the rest of the band pursued their own solo projects. It was not until 1999 that Blondie decided to reform, and the band began to record and tour once again. They released their comeback album in 1999 titled No Exit, and began to tour once more.
