Blossoms are an English indie rock band from Stockport, Greater Manchester, formed in 2013. The band consists of Tom Ogden (lead vocals, guitar), Charlie Salt (bass, backing vocals), Josh Dewhurst (lead guitar, percussion), Joe Donovan (drums), and Myles Kellock (keyboards, synthesizer, backing vocals). They were featured on the BBC's Sound of 2016 list and finished fourth. Their self-titled debut album was nominated for the Mercury Music Prize in 2017, the same year they were up for British Breakthrough Act at the Brit Awards.
Blossoms' members all grew up within two miles of each other. Ogden and Donovan met on a school trip in 2005, and during high school, they were inspired by bands like Oasis and The Stone Roses. After various jobs and band experiences, the five members came together to form Blossoms in January 2013. They began recording their debut album in 2015 and released the successful single "Charlemagne," which topped the Christmas vinyl chart.
Their debut album, released in August 2016, reached number one on the UK Albums Chart. Blossoms supported the Stone Roses and played numerous festivals. In 2017, they performed at Manchester Arena's reopening after a terrorist attack. Their second album, Cool Like You (2018), peaked at number four on the UK Albums Chart, and their third album, Foolish Loving Spaces (2020), hit number one. In 2021, they headlined the first major UK festival post-COVID-19 lockdown and teamed up with Rick Astley for performances.
Their fourth album, Ribbon Around The Bomb (2022), also reached number one. Blossoms announced their fifth album, Gary, set for release on September 20, 2024.
