Catherine Bohart, born on August 13, 1988, is an Irish stand-up comedian, writer, and actor based in the United Kingdom. Raised in Clonsilla, Fingal, in the greater Dublin area, as the daughter of a Catholic deacon, she faced challenges, including obsessive–compulsive disorder, leading to a four-month hospitalization. Bohart initially studied law at UCD before switching to French and History at Trinity College. Her academic journey continued at the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama in London, where she earned an MA in Acting for Screen. Before venturing into stand-up comedy, Bohart was actively involved in debate during high school and college, even working in debate education during her early days as a stand-up comedian.
Transitioning from acting to stand-up in 2014, Bohart made a mark in the comedy scene. She was a finalist for the 2016 BBC New Comedy Award and the 2018 Leicester Mercury Comedian of the Year. Catherine has contributed her writing talents to shows like The Now Show, The News Quiz, and Frankie Boyle's New World Order. She has also supported Ellie Taylor and Nish Kumar on tour.
Bohart gained professional recognition at the 2018 Edinburgh Festival with her show, "Immaculate," which she later took on a national tour. Following this success, her second show, "Lemon," premiered at the 2019 Edinburgh Festival, with subsequent tour dates in the UK and Ireland.
Making notable TV appearances on shows like Live At the Apollo, The Blame Game, and Mock the Week, Catherine is a frequent guest on Deborah Frances-White's The Guilty Feminist podcast. In 2019, she hosted the "Funny from the Fringe" podcast for BBC Radio 4 Extra. During the COVID-19 Pandemic in 2020, Bohart, along with her then-girlfriend Sarah Keyworth, created the podcast "You'll Do," exploring the dynamics of relationships. Additionally, she co-founded the online comedy program "Gigless" with Helen Bauer and Andrew White, winning the Chortle Award for Legend of Lockdown.
Currently, Catherine Bohart co-hosts the podcast "Trusty Hogs" with fellow comedian Helen Bauer. Her journey is marked by resilience, versatility, and significant contributions to the comedy landscape.
