The Marcus King Band, a southern rock and blues ensemble hailing from South Carolina, was formed in 2013 by guitarist Marcus King. Growing up in Greenville, South Carolina, King was immersed in the blues from an early age, often performing alongside his father, blues musician Marvin King. The band comprises drummer Jack Ryan, bassist Stephen Campbell, and guitarist Drew Smithers, with touring musicians including saxophonist Chris Spies and keyboardist Mike Runyon.
In 2015, The Marcus King Band released their debut album, "Soul Insight," which achieved success, reaching #8 on the Billboard Blues Albums Chart. Their second full-length album, self-titled "The Marcus King Band," was released in 2016 under Fantasy Records, produced by Warren Haynes. This album reached No. 2 on the Billboard Blues Albums Chart.
Following this, the band released their third album, "Carolina Confessions," in 2018. Produced and mixed by Dave Cobb, the album was recorded at RCA Studio A in Nashville. While not making the Billboard 200, "Carolina Confessions" marked the band's first appearance on the magazine's US Top Current Albums chart, peaking at No. 55. It also achieved success on the Blues chart, reaching No. 2, and on the Heatseekers Albums chart, where it also peaked at No. 2.
