Fat White Family, a provocative and genre-defying band, emerged in 2011, led by the charismatic Lias Kaci Saoudi, a Southampton native raised in Castlegar, Ayr, and Cookstown. The lineup included Saul Adamczewski, formerly of the indie pop group The Metros, along with Nathan Saoudi on keys, who previously played guitar in their shared band, The Saoudis. Adam Harmer, formerly a solo artist, joined as guitarist, alongside Dan Lyons on drums.
Their debut album, "Champagne Holocaust," released in 2013 on Trashmouth Records in the UK and later in the US via Fat Possum Records, garnered attention for its raw energy and unorthodox sound. The band followed up with a split EP with Taman Shud and singles like "Touch the Leather" and "I Am Mark E Smith," showcasing their audacious style.
In 2016, they released their sophomore album, "Songs for Our Mothers," exploring darker themes with tracks like "Whitest Boy on the Beach," featured in the film "T2 Trainspotting." The band's third album, "Serfs Up!," released in 2019 via Domino Records, received critical acclaim for its boldness and innovation, highlighted by singles such as "Feet" and "Tastes Good With The Money," featuring Baxter Dury.
Beyond their main project, Fat White Family members have been involved in various side projects. They formed the post-punk and disco group Warmduscher, collaborated with Eccentronic Research Council on the Moonlandingz project, and Adamczewski launched Insecure Men, showcasing their diverse talents and restless creativity.
