Chico Chico is a Brazilian singer, songwriter, and multi instrumentalist known for blending contemporary alternative music with the rich traditions of Brazilian songwriting. Born Francisco Gil, he is the son of singer Preta Gil and the grandson of legendary musician and former Brazilian Minister of Culture Gilberto Gil, placing him within one of Brazil’s most influential musical families. Building his own artistic identity, Chico Chico has gained recognition through projects such as the duo Gilsons, where he helped craft a modern sound that merges MPB, indie, soul, and groove driven rhythms while maintaining a strong connection to Brazil’s musical heritage.
As a solo artist, Chico Chico explores a more intimate and experimental approach to songwriting, mixing acoustic textures, alternative pop influences, and reflective lyricism. His music often navigates themes of personal growth, spirituality, love, and Brazilian cultural identity, delivered through warm vocals and thoughtful arrangements. With a growing international audience and an artistic style that bridges tradition and modernity, Chico Chico continues to establish himself as one of the most intriguing voices in Brazil’s new generation of musicians.
