Flo and Joan are a British musical comedy duo made up of sisters Rosie and Nicola Dempsey, known for combining sharp songwriting, witty observations and catchy melodies with an unmistakably deadpan delivery. Originally from Portsmouth, the pair have developed a distinctive place within contemporary British comedy, transforming everything from everyday frustrations to stranger corners of modern life into cleverly constructed songs packed with humour.
The duo have built their reputation through acclaimed live shows, television appearances and widely shared online performances. Their combination of piano, percussion, vocal harmonies and carefully timed comedy allows them to move effortlessly between musical styles while keeping the jokes at the centre of each song. Flo and Joan have also become familiar faces on the UK comedy circuit, taking their original productions to major venues and festivals including the Edinburgh Festival Fringe.
Live, Flo and Joan turn musical comedy into a fast moving and wonderfully unpredictable experience. Their sibling chemistry, precise timing and ability to build surprisingly elaborate songs around unusual subjects give their performances a character all their own. For fans of clever comedy, original music and performers who can make an audience laugh while delivering genuinely accomplished musicianship, a Flo and Joan show offers an entertaining night that stands apart from traditional stand up.
