Fujiya & Miyagi are a British electronic band formed in Brighton, known for combining hypnotic rhythms, understated vocals and influences from electronic music, krautrock, funk and indie pop. Despite the Japanese inspired name, the group originated on the south coast of England and gradually developed an international following through their distinctive combination of repetition, groove and dry lyrical humour. Their sound is immediately recognisable, balancing minimalist arrangements with infectious rhythmic detail.
The band gained significant attention with Transparent Things, an album featuring tracks such as "Ankle Injuries" and "Collarbone", before continuing to explore electronic grooves across an expanding catalogue. Fujiya & Miyagi draw on motorik rhythms, synthesizers, guitars and carefully controlled vocals to create music that feels both experimental and accessible. Their ability to combine danceable repetition with indie sensibilities has remained central to their appeal.
Live, Fujiya & Miyagi turn their tightly constructed recordings into performances driven by rhythm and momentum. Repeating basslines, electronic textures and precise instrumentation gradually build an atmosphere that encourages movement without sacrificing the subtle details of the songs. For fans of electronic music, krautrock and alternative pop, a Fujiya & Miyagi concert offers an opportunity to experience their distinctive grooves in the environment where they can become especially hypnotic.
