Jesus Christ Superstar is the legendary rock musical created by composer Andrew Lloyd Webber and lyricist Tim Rice, bringing the final weeks of the life of Jesus to the stage through an electrifying combination of rock music, powerful vocals and dramatic storytelling. First released as a concept album in 1970 before making its Broadway debut in 1971, the musical has become one of the most recognisable productions in musical theatre. Iconic songs including "Superstar", "Gethsemane" and "I Don't Know How to Love Him" have helped the show endure for generations, with new productions continuing to introduce its groundbreaking score to audiences around the world.

The current production brings a particularly exciting voice to the musical, with British singer and Eurovision star Sam Ryder taking on the role of Jesus. Known for his extraordinary vocal range, commanding delivery and rock influenced style, Ryder brings qualities ideally suited to one of musical theatre's most demanding leading roles. After achieving international recognition with "SPACE MAN" and representing the United Kingdom at the Eurovision Song Contest 2022, his appearance in Jesus Christ Superstar gives audiences the opportunity to experience his powerful voice in a completely different live setting.

On stage, Jesus Christ Superstar combines explosive ensemble numbers with intimate moments of emotion, exploring the relationships between Jesus, Judas, Mary Magdalene and those surrounding them during the story's final days. The rock opera format gives the production an intensity unlike a traditional musical, with driving guitars, dramatic choreography and soaring vocals creating a theatrical experience designed to be felt as much as heard. With Sam Ryder at the centre of the current production, audiences can experience a celebrated musical theatre classic alongside the distinctive vocal power of one of Britain's best known contemporary singers.
