JOY GUIDRY is an American bassoonist, composer, and multidisciplinary artist whose work expands the possibilities of contemporary classical and experimental music. Drawing on classical training while embracing improvisation, jazz, electronic music, and deeply personal composition, GUIDRY uses the bassoon in ways that move far beyond conventional expectations of the instrument. Their work explores identity, liberation, spirituality, and emotional expression, creating music that can be intimate, challenging, meditative, and powerfully expansive.

Live, JOY GUIDRY brings together instrumental skill, improvisation, composition, and experimentation to create performances that resist simple categorisation. The distinctive tone of the bassoon can move from delicate melodic passages to rich, textured layers, while electronic and improvisational elements broaden the musical landscape. This freedom gives each performance a sense of discovery, making the concert experience particularly compelling for listeners interested in adventurous contemporary music.

For fans of experimental music, contemporary classical composition, free improvisation, and boundary pushing performance, JOY GUIDRY offers a distinctive live experience. Their approach combines technical musicianship with a strong artistic voice, opening new possibilities for the bassoon while creating music that encourages audiences to listen closely and engage with sound from a different perspective.
