Currently residing in the lively and eclectic British seaside town of Brighton, Miss Laura Vane continues to tighten her grip on the funk/soul/pop scene in Europe! An 80′s baby born into a musical family, growing up in rehearsals, band rooms and running around backstage. Watching her parents play music throughout her childhood reinforced her passion for performance and underlined her dream to become a singer. Laura is regarded as the little lady with the big voice, once described as ‘honey over sand paper’ due to her full bodied rasp and raw edge. Laura at her core is a soul/Jazz singer, but her long standing relationship with dance music has allowed her to merge into other styles of song writing, and enables her to exercise all of her influences, ranging from Aretha Franklin, Ella Fitzgerald and Stevie Wonder to Chaka Khan, Michael Jackson, Kelis and Janelle Monae.
She has been working in the music industry professionally and releasing her records for over a decade. She writes, records and performs her own material all over the globe. Achieving notable success from working with artists such as Gnarls Barkley, The Streets, Mike Skinner, Mj Cole, Lewis Taylor, Part Time Heroes, Omar, Diesler, Kidda and more, she has enjoyed releases on many labels; Ministry, 679, Verve, Soulfuric, Device, HedKandi, Tru Thoughts, Unique Records, Freestyle, Socialbeats, Toolroom, Juicy, Prolific Records and Ink.
To date Laura has appeared on the legendary Top Of The Pops and De Wereld Draait Door, as well as BBC radio shows hosted by much loved and well regarded Dj’s such as Jonathan Ross, Gilles Peterson (Maida vale live session), Zane Lowe, Steve Lamacq, Annie Mac, Pete Tong, Mark Lamarr, Craig Charles, Ras Kwame and the hugely popular Dutch Radio 6, Giel Beelen and Gerard Ekdom at 3FM to name a few.
