Mikaela Davis is an American singer, songwriter and harpist whose distinctive music brings the harp into an adventurous world of folk, psychedelic rock and Americana. Classically trained on the instrument, Davis has developed an individual approach that moves beyond traditional expectations of harp music, combining technical musicianship with imaginative songwriting and an exploratory band sound.
Her recordings showcase an artist comfortable moving between delicate melodic passages and expansive arrangements shaped by folk, rock and psychedelic influences. Working with her band Southern Star, Davis has continued to broaden her sound, placing the harp alongside guitars, rhythm sections and rich vocal harmonies. The result is music that respects her classical foundations while confidently exploring contemporary roots and alternative styles.
Live, Mikaela Davis and her collaborators can reveal the full range of these influences, with the harp becoming both a subtle melodic instrument and a striking part of the wider band sound. Improvisation, musicianship and evolving arrangements give the music room to expand on stage. For listeners interested in folk, Americana and psychedelic music with an unusual instrumental perspective, a Mikaela Davis concert offers something genuinely distinctive.
