Modern Color are an American alternative rock band from Redondo Beach, California, known for a powerful sound that brings together post hardcore, shoegaze, alternative rock and melodic punk influences. Formed in Southern California, the band have developed a distinctive identity through emotionally charged songwriting, atmospheric guitars and dynamic arrangements that can move from reflective melodies to explosive walls of sound. Their combination of heaviness and vulnerability has helped Modern Color build a dedicated following within the contemporary alternative music scene.
Across releases including From the Leaves of Your Garden and There Goes the Dream, Modern Color have continued to refine their balance of melody, distortion and raw emotion. Their music draws strength from contrasts, pairing expansive guitar textures and memorable vocal lines with moments of considerable intensity. This approach gives their catalogue an immediacy that appeals to fans of shoegaze and alternative rock as well as listeners connected to hardcore and punk music.
Live, Modern Color translate their layered recordings into energetic and immersive performances, where atmospheric passages can quickly develop into heavier, more physical moments. The combination of distorted guitars, expressive vocals and driving rhythms gives their concerts an intensity ideally suited to intimate venues and packed crowds. For audiences interested in the intersection between modern alternative rock, shoegaze and post hardcore, Modern Color offer a compelling live experience filled with melody, emotion and volume.
