The Orb Portmeirion Weekender brings the pioneering electronic world of The Orb into the distinctive surroundings of Portmeirion in North Wales. The Orb, formed around Alex Paterson, became one of the defining names in ambient house through a groundbreaking mixture of electronic rhythms, samples, dub influences and expansive soundscapes. The weekender offers audiences the opportunity to experience that musical legacy within an unusual destination setting.
Since emerging from the British electronic underground around the end of the 1980s, The Orb have helped reshape ideas about what dance and ambient music could become. Landmark releases including The Orb's Adventures Beyond the Ultraworld established their reputation for long form electronic journeys, while their continued experimentation has kept the project connected to successive generations of electronic music listeners.
The Orb Portmeirion Weekender expands the experience beyond a conventional concert, combining music, atmosphere and location across an immersive event. Portmeirion's distinctive architecture and surroundings provide an appropriately surreal backdrop for The Orb's psychedelic electronic universe. For ambient, dub and electronic music fans, the weekender offers a chance to step inside that world and experience it as part of a dedicated gathering.
