The Spook School are an indie pop band from Edinburgh whose energetic guitar music combines catchy melodies with thoughtful explorations of identity, gender and relationships. Formed in 2012, the group became associated with a vibrant strand of UK indie music that paired DIY immediacy with socially conscious songwriting. Their combination of fuzzy guitars, memorable choruses and emotional openness helped them build an enthusiastic following.
Across releases including Dress Up, Try To Be Hopeful and Could It Be Different?, The Spook School developed a sound that could be playful, vulnerable and defiant within the same song. Their music frequently explores queer and trans experiences alongside broader themes of self discovery and human connection, giving their upbeat indie pop an additional emotional depth. The band's work has earned lasting affection within independent music communities in the UK and beyond.
Live, The Spook School translate their bright melodies and fuzzy guitar sound into an energetic and welcoming concert experience. Fast paced songs, infectious hooks and the band's sense of personality create shows that encourage audiences to become part of the performance rather than simply observe it. For fans of DIY indie pop, punk influenced guitars and songwriting with something meaningful to say, The Spook School offer a live experience filled with warmth, energy and individuality.
