Union J finished fourth during series 9 on The X Factor, and were the most popular act on social networks.
Union J are Jamie Hamblett (JJ), George Shelley, Josh Cuthbert, Jaymi Hensley.
Union J say: “We’re four normal down to earth guys who love to sing.” Jaymi, Josh and JJ auditioned for The X Factor as a three piece called Triple J and got through to Bootcamp. After Rough Copy left the show Louis asked them to come back to the competition for Judges Houses and he added 19 year-old George Shelley to the group.
They then became Union J. Jaymi is a part time singing and dancing teacher, Josh works in IT Sales, JJ works with horses and George works part-time in a coffee shop. JJ was a jockey from the age of 15 - following in his dad and brother’s footsteps and Josh starred in the West End musical Chitty Chitty Bang Bang when he was 14. His nan Jean spent over £800 on tickets to see him in the show – she went every week! George plays the guitar – he taught himself to play with help from his granddad when he got his first guitar at the age of 13.
Triple J were together for eight months before they auditioned for the show and they got on really well with George at Bootcamp so they are pleased he has joined the group: “We’re so happy to be a four piece. The group feels so right together, it feels like we’ve been together for years!”
Union J are due to release their debut studio album late summer 2013. They released their first single "Carry You" to strong positive reviews.
