Earlier this month, team Eventim got to witness the wonderful Michael Marcagi live in London.
His biggest UK show to date in the UK - the Cincinnati singer-songwriter fired through a rousing 10-song set at the O2 Forum Kentish Town - performing tracks from his 2024 debut album, American Romance. Launching in with the title track, he journeyed through singles including his Tik-Tok hit, Scared To Start and two pop covers, Harry Styles falling and Olivia Rodrigo's deja vu.
With much of the crowd dancing, sing-a-long moments ensued with The Otherside and show closer, Good Enough, his backing band were tight - his stage-persona, humble and the setlist a perfect mix of indie and folk-pop, delivered in earnest, which complemented his equally stellar opening act.
Known for his ‘humorous storytelling’ and ‘serious folk’ music - special guest, John Craigie proved to be the ideal support. Weaving tales from festivals into the breaks between songs, Craigie's brand of sad folk songs meets jolly Americana was well worth arriving on time for - as you should. A particular highlight was 2013's I Wrote Mr. Tambourine Man.
Marcagi started out fronting Ohio band, The Heavy Hours who released two albums before Michael took his manager’s advice and went solo - signing to Warner Music last year. Since then he's gone from strength to strength, with this recent huge date in London coming almost a year after he first performed in London at the OMEARA in January 2024.
