Amadeus brings the extraordinary story and music associated with Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart to audiences through a compelling combination of classical music, drama and theatrical storytelling. Mozart remains one of the most celebrated composers in the history of Western music, with an enormous body of work encompassing symphonies, concertos, chamber music, operas and sacred compositions. His remarkable creativity and enduring influence continue to inspire productions and performances around the world.
The name Amadeus is also closely associated with Peter Shaffer's acclaimed stage play, which explores a fictionalised account of the relationship between Mozart and fellow composer Antonio Salieri. The story later reached an even wider audience through the celebrated 1984 film adaptation directed by Milos Forman. Combining dramatic rivalry with some of Mozart's greatest compositions, Amadeus helped introduce the composer's music and remarkable life story to new generations of audiences.
Experiencing Amadeus live offers the opportunity to encounter Mozart's legacy in an atmospheric performance setting, where music and storytelling can gain additional emotional impact. From the brilliance of the compositions to the fascinating personalities and conflicts surrounding Mozart's story, Amadeus provides an accessible gateway into the world of classical music and theatre. It is an engaging choice for established classical music enthusiasts as well as audiences discovering Mozart's extraordinary work for the first time.
