An Evening With BLACK FLAG celebrates the uncompromising music and legacy of one of the most influential bands in American hardcore punk. Formed in Hermosa Beach, California, in the 1970s, BLACK FLAG helped define the sound, attitude and independent spirit of the US underground. Driven by guitarist and songwriter Greg Ginn, the band developed a fierce musical identity built around distorted guitars, confrontational energy and songs that explored alienation, frustration and life outside conventional society.
BLACK FLAG became a cornerstone of hardcore through landmark releases including Damaged, My War and Slip It In. Songs such as "Rise Above", "Nervous Breakdown" and "TV Party" remain important parts of punk history, while the band's relentless touring and association with SST Records helped establish a model that countless independent artists would follow. Their willingness to move beyond traditional hardcore into heavier, slower and more experimental territory also demonstrated a refusal to be restricted by genre expectations.
Live, BLACK FLAG have always been associated with intensity, volume and directness. An Evening With BLACK FLAG gives audiences the chance to experience material from a catalogue that helped reshape underground rock and continues to influence punk, hardcore and alternative music. For longtime followers and younger listeners discovering the band through its enduring influence, the show offers an opportunity to hear this music where its raw power becomes particularly clear, in front of a live audience.
