About Anne MarieAnne-Marie Rose Nicholson - known professionally as
Anne-Marie is an English singer-songwriter who first garnered mainstream attention for her work with British group Rudimental, and later as a collaborator on Clean Bandit’s track
Rockabye (also featuring Sean Paul) in 2016, which peaked at number one. She has since released a slew of hugely successful solo singles including
Alarm,
Ciao Adios,
Friends,
2002 and
Don't Play and become one of the UK’s most popular pop acts.
Born and raised in Essex, Anne-Marie created a solo demo, titled
Summer Girl for Rocket Records in 2013. This led to her guesting on tracks by electronic groups Gorgon City, Magnetic Man and Raized by Wolves, and following the departure of one one of their vocalists, drum and bass band Rudimental asked Anne-Marie to join them. She went on to feature on four tracks on their album
We the Generation, and spent the next two years touring alongside them before she released her debut EP
Karate in the summer of 2015.
The same year, Anne-Marie signed a record deal with Asylum (part of Atlantic Records), but left in late 2018 and signed a new deal with Warner Bros. Records. Her debut studio album
Speak Your Mind was released in April 2018 and led to four Brit awards nominations at the 2019 ceremony, including Best British Female Solo Artist.
In 2019, Anne-Marie featured on the single
F*ck, I'm Lonely by American singer Lauv for the soundtrack of Netflix series
13 Reasons Why.
Throughout 2020, she released the song
Birthday followed by the track
Her on Mother’s Day,
To Be Young featuring American rapper Doja Cat came out in July, and a month later, Anne-Marie she reunited with Rudimental to feature on their single
Come Over.
Later in 2020, Anne-Marie released the single
Problems, as well as her documentary,
How To Be Anne-Marie via YouTube Originals. The documentary explores her personal life and the time she spent away from the limelight, and included interviews with fellow pop act Little Mix.
In early 2021, she made her debut appearance as a coach on the tenth series of BBC’s The Voice UK, replacing Meghan Trainor. She also released the single
Don't Play in collaboration with English rapper KSI and DJ/remixer
Digital Farm Animals around the same time. She later contributed vocals on the song
Way Too Long with Nathan Dawe and MoStack.
In May 2021, Anne-Marie announced
Our Song with One Direction alumni and soloist Niall Horan as the third single from her upcoming second studio album,
Therapy, which is set for release in July 2021.
