Bad With Phones is the moniker of Manny T Deroy, also known as Emmanuel Folorunso, a bassist and producer hailing from Deptford. Since 2018, he has been releasing music that reflects his eclectic style. Raised in a Pentecostal household with a preacher father and older brothers who played in the church band, Deroy subtly weaves references to his religious upbringing into his sing-raps. However, his sound defies categorization, blending elements of weirdo rap, trap, R&B, indie, and sharp storytelling. Despite often adopting characters in his music, the track "Crash" draws directly from a personal experience—Deroy took a two-year break from music following a serious car accident during a holiday in Lanzarote.
