Barokksolistene are a Scandinavian early music ensemble founded by Norwegian violinist and artistic director Bjart Eike. Known for imaginative and highly engaging performances, the ensemble approaches Baroque repertoire with historically informed musicianship while challenging traditional expectations of how early music should be presented. Their work combines technical excellence with storytelling, improvisation and theatrical energy.
Rather than treating Baroque music purely as formal concert repertoire, Barokksolistene explore the social and cultural environments in which this music once flourished. Their projects can connect classical compositions with folk traditions, dance and communal music making, revealing the lively relationship that historically existed between concert halls, taverns and popular entertainment.
Live, Barokksolistene transform historical music into an immediate shared experience. Virtuoso playing is combined with movement, personality and communication, helping audiences encounter centuries old repertoire with fresh ears. For early music enthusiasts and newcomers alike, a Barokksolistene concert offers the opportunity to experience Baroque music not simply as history, but as vibrant live entertainment capable of filling a room with energy.
