Bjart Eike is a Norwegian violinist and artistic director recognised for imaginative approaches to Baroque and early music. As the founder and artistic director of Barokksolistene, Eike has developed performances that move beyond conventional concert presentation, combining historically informed musicianship with storytelling, theatre and an energetic sense of communication between performers and audiences.
His work explores the social environments in which early music was originally performed, bringing historical repertoire into settings that feel immediate rather than distant. Through projects including The Alehouse Sessions, Eike and his collaborators connect Baroque music with folk traditions, improvisation and the lively atmosphere of historic taverns, demonstrating how classical repertoire can become vibrant communal entertainment.
Seeing Bjart Eike live offers audiences an opportunity to experience outstanding musicianship presented with warmth, imagination and theatrical character. Rather than placing historical music behind glass, his performances invite listeners directly into its world. For classical enthusiasts, folk listeners and audiences curious about fresh approaches to early music, Bjart Eike offers a concert experience where scholarship and spontaneous entertainment meet.
