Black Country Communion are the critically acclaimed Anglo/American rock supergroup comprising vocalist/bassist Glenn Hughes (Deep Purple, Trapeze, Black Sabbath), award-winning blues rock guitarist Joe Bonamassa, drummer Jason Bonham (Led Zeppelin, Foreigner) and keyboardist Derek Sherinian (Dream Theater, Billy Idol).
Black Country Communion’s eponymous album debuted at number one in the Official UK Rock Album Chart, and number two in the Official UK Independent Album Chart. Black Country Communion tickets are the big buzzword in the rock genre right now!
They are the brainchild of producer Kevin Shirley (Black Crowes, Aerosmith, Led Zeppelin). Their debut album was produced and mixed by Shirley, and mastered by Bob Ludwig. Black Country Communion were originally formed when Kevin Shirley saw Glenn Hughes and Joe Bonamassa join forces on stage in Los Angeles in November 2009 for an explosive performance at Guitar Center’s King of the Blues event. Shirley recruited powerhouse drummer Jason Bonham (Led Zeppelin, Foreigner) and keyboardist Derek Sherinian (Dream Theatre, Billy Idol, Alice Cooper).
The band’s name is derived from the industrial area in the British Midlands where both Hughes and Bonham were born and raised. The debut album was recorded at Shangri-La Studios in early 2010.
“With ties to all three of heavy rock’s most iconic bands – Black Sabbath, Deep Purple and Led Zeppelin – Black Country Communion is a modern Supergroup to rival Them Crooked Vultures.” – Mojo
