Brighton, England’s mysterious Cave Painting crafts an atmospheric sound that borrows from shoegaze, Afro-pop, and good old-fashioned indie-rock, evoking American acts such as Fleet Foxes and Yeasayer as well as fellow U.K. residents Vacationer. Forming in 2010, the five-piece announced their arrival with a trailer for their music posted on their website and the debut song “Leaf” in January 2011. Shortly after playing their first show that spring, Cave Painting signed to Hideout Records and continued to post songs such as “Midnight Love,” “Rio,” and “So Calm” online. The band played more shows that summer and released an eerie short film based on “Midnight Love” in September. Cave Painting's debut EP, You’ll Be Running Soon, was released that November.
