Chali2na is an American rapper and visual artist celebrated for his unmistakably deep baritone voice, precise delivery and contributions to alternative hip hop. Born Charles Stewart, he became widely known as a founding member of the influential Los Angeles group Jurassic 5 and for his work with the funk collective Ozomatli. His commanding vocal style has made him one of the most immediately recognisable voices to emerge from the West Coast hip hop scene.
As part of Jurassic 5, Chali2na helped create a sound rooted in classic hip hop, intricate vocal interplay and an emphasis on lyrical performance. Alongside his group work, he has developed a solo career that showcases his individual approach to rhyme, storytelling and collaboration. Releases including "Fish Outta Water" have allowed him to explore his own musical identity while maintaining the rhythmic skill and distinctive delivery associated with his earlier work.
Live, Chali2na brings decades of hip hop experience to the stage, combining vocal control, rhythmic precision and a commanding physical presence. His performances can draw from solo material, collaborations and the musical legacy associated with Jurassic 5, creating a set with strong connections to both classic and alternative hip hop. For audiences who value skilled lyricism and authentic live rap performance, a Chali2na concert offers the opportunity to hear one of hip hop's most distinctive voices in person.
