Claire Cottrill, better known by her stage name Clairo, is an American singer-songwriter and musician born on August 18, 1998, in Atlanta, Georgia, and raised in Carlisle, Massachusetts. She is the daughter of Geoff Cottrill, a marketing executive, and Allie Cottrill, a photographer and designer.
Clairo began her musical journey at the age of 13, recording covers on her MacBook and posting them online. She performed locally and posted music on platforms like Bandcamp and SoundCloud under the names Clairo and DJ Baby Benz. She released several EPs, including "Do U Wanna Fall in Love?" and others in 2015.
Clairo gained wide attention with the viral success of her song "Pretty Girl" in late 2017. The success led to her signing with The Fader's record label and releasing her debut EP, "diary 001," in May 2018. She also toured extensively, including opening for Dua Lipa and performing at major festivals like Lollapalooza and Coachella.
