Born in South London and raised on Bob Dylan, The Kinks and Cream. D.B’s sound is decribed by his producer Mark ‘SNOWBOY’ Cotgrove as a cross between Paul Weller, early Who, The Kooks, Chicago Blues, Rockabilly, and Two Tone Ska.
Daniel Ben began his musical career with Tokyo based band Mole, singing Velvet Underground covers and original material in the clubs of Shibuya and Shinjuku. Since returning from Japan in 2006, D.B formed The Dukes of Earl and recorded the EP 'The Zu' with Unlicensed Media. Various cross-over genre collaborations with London Grime producer D.T.M continued and helped D.B broaden his sound and hone his studio craft.
Bu It was in 2009 with the guidance Dan’s musical mentor Snowboy, that his debut album ‘Throwing Chairs’ was created. Dan’s ‘Big Noise’ analog studio team included : Florence And The Machine bassist Mark Saunders, James Taylor Quartet's Gary Crockett and rockabilly blues legend Steve Hooker, as well as blues harmonica player West Weston featuring on ‘Rockahula’ and ‘The Boatman’ which has since been championed by Gary Crowley on BBC London Radio.
In 2013 D.B Cohen once again teamed up with producer Snowboy to record his latest offering entitled 'SCRATCHCARDS & WINE' featuring Mark Saunders (Bass) from 'Florence' as well as Rusty Bradshaw (Hammond) from the same band. Toby Gore (Drums) and Indie legend Mike Webster from 'BADDIES' as well as Ladonna Harley ( EMILI SANDE). D.B can also boast the horn section that toured with 'THE SPECIALS'. These amazing musicians along with the original songs that D.B has written make for the fantastic new album 'SCRATCHCARDS & WINE' to be released Spring 2013.
