The legend of Hercules is one of the most famous tales from Greek mythology. It follows the life and adventures of the son of Zeus, king of the gods, and the mortal woman Alcmene. Although he was half-human, it was clear that Hercules was blessed with extraordinary strength and courage. When he was only 8 months old, the goddess Hera sent two giant snakes to kill Hercules. But when he was found by his nurse, he had strangled them to death with his bare bands and was playing with them as if they were toys.
Most famously, Hercules became known for enduring the 'Twelve Labors', a series of nearly impossible tasks he was forced to undertake. These challenges - such as slaying the Nemean Lion, capturing the Golden Hind, and retrieving Cerberus from the underworld - cemented Hercules’ status as a symbol of resilience, redemption, and heroism.
