Eat Static is an electronic music project launched in 1989 from Frome, Somerset by Merv Pepler and Joie Hinton as a creative outlet beyond their work in Ozric Tentacles. Known for combining trance, techno, drum and bass, breakbeat and world music elements, Eat Static built a reputation for genre-blurring productions, extraterrestrial themes, and masterful experimentation.
Following Joie Hinton’s departure in 2008, Merv Pepler continued Eat Static as a solo project, maintaining the core essence of its sound and expanding its reach with immersive live performances.
In 2025 Eat Static return to the stage with a run of UK shows, bringing their signature cosmic rhythms and immersive electronic soundscapes to audiences across the country. Fans can expect a journey through decades of pioneering dance music, blending classic tracks with fresh new material.
