rom the Jam is an English band formed in 2006 by Rick Buckler, the former drummer of The Jam, alongside musicians Russell Hastings and David Moore. Initially named The Gift, the band focused on performing material by The Jam. Russell Hastings, who had extensive experience as a local musician and in a Jam tribute band, handled guitar and lead vocals.
In 2006, Bruce Foxton, a former member of The Jam, performed with The Gift and later joined the band permanently as bassist. This addition led to the group renaming themselves From the Jam.
After Foxton joined, David Moore switched to second guitar and keyboards. From the Jam announced a new album and UK tour in 2007, which quickly sold out. Although Paul Weller, another former member of The Jam, did not participate, the band toured extensively in the UK, the US, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand. A concert recorded at the London Astoria in December 2007 was released on DVD in 2008. Moore left the band in early 2009, and Buckler departed later that year.
In 2012, From the Jam released a new album, "Back in the Room," under Bruce Foxton's name, featuring contributions from Paul Weller and other notable musicians. The band continued to evolve, releasing "Smash the Clock" in 2016 and "The Butterfly Effect" in 2022. Throughout these years, From the Jam maintained their connection to their roots while exploring new musical directions, solidifying their place in the legacy of The Jam.
